Delicious Discovery

Flatout FOLDit Artesian Flatbread

I am a big fan of sandwiches. This is a recent development for me. I think the bread is crucial. It makes or breaks the sandwich. But most delicious bread has a lot of calories...and that's before you add in your fillings!

Step in Flatout Flatbread, the creators of the FOLDit Artesian Flatbread. They are fabulous. The bread is a thicker version of a wrap ( the company also makes wraps) that fold into a "taco like" (yes, I made up that word) sandwich. There are three varieties, Traditional Country, Rosemary and Olive Oil and 5 Grain Flax that range from 100 to 140 calories and 3 to 8 grams of fiber per FOLDit. Click here to find them at a location near you. They are a great thing to try --especially with New Year's Resolution's fast approaching!!!

Happy Holiday's to everyone!

Foods to Ponder

Roast Chicken

I love chicken. Who doesn't (aside from all of you vegetarians/vegans)? It's delicious and incredibly versatile. I have come across hundreds of recipes for chicken...some good...some bad. However, I decided recently to become a much better cook. So I made my first attempt at roasting a chicken myself.

Who else to turn to but the Barefoot Contessa? Her Lemon and Garlic Roast Chicken seemed really simple on TV and on paper. It is. It took 10-15 minutes to prepare and then just pop it in the oven for an hour and a half. I will say--I left out the bacon portion and didn't do the gravy. I didn't think it was necessary but if you want to try it..go for it.

Lastly--if you don't have the time just pick up a roaster chicken at your local grocery store. They are amazing, inexpensive, healthy and the quickest dinner you will ever make. It's much better for you than any local takeout and just as easy.

Delicious Discovery

Dunkin' Donuts Wake-Up Wraps

Just about every Wednesday, my Mom comes over to watch my daughter so I can work. Hallie looks forward to munchkins and I look forward to a breakfast treat. This week--she brought a Dunkin' Donuts Wake-Up Wrap. Yummy.

I had the ham, cheese and egg white version which is just 160 calories and 7 grams of fat. It isn't very big...probably a 6 inch wrap with half a slice of cheese, egg whites and ham (or Canadian bacon?). My Mom had ham and egg white which she said was delicious as well. There are also bacon and sausage varieties that are higher in calories (210 and 280 respectively).

I highly recommend them. Have one (or two!)  when you need breakfast fast or just have the munchies. Good work Dunkin' Donuts.
